Reminders

Congratulations on your new Snowy Paw Puppy!!
We know that bringing a new puppy home is a very exciting time for everybody, however, training begins from the moment you bring your puppy home.
I have listed out some of the things we discuss with all our puppy buyers below. These are things we find to be the most important and if followed, gets everybody off on the right track for a lifetime of success and a treasured companionship!

Important things you should begin with your puppy from day 1:
-Bathe your puppy once every 2 weeks at minimum for the first few months
-Brush your puppy daily
-Trim your puppy's toenails weekly
-Brush your puppy's teeth
-Enroll the puppy in a puppy socialization (aka puppy kindergarten) class
-Put a collar and leash on, but,  NEVER leave a puppy's collar on while in his/her crate
-While the puppy is eating, take away his/her food bowl for 10-15 seconds, and then give it back and praise
-Leave your puppy alone for short periods of time

Your puppy's first year is the hardest, and the most rewarding, year for both you and the puppy.
Patience is required.
Golden Retrievers naturally aim to please their owner.  At 8 weeks of age, limit training sessions to 20 - 30 minutes at a time as this is about how long your puppy's attention span should be expected to last.
